Cinema History

Originally the Mechanics Hall and Institute which was in existence in 1868, the building was converted and extended to open as a cinema in 1917. Transformed into a Bingo Hall in the 1960's, two new cinema screens, seating 107 and 56, were created in the front stalls and backstage area in 1999. We are now one of the last remaining family-operated, privately-owned fully-independent local cinemas in Scotland.
